Tomato Soup With Seafood: A Quick and Nutritious Recipe

A delicious dish made with vegetables and seafood, this soup is full of Mediterranean flavors, ideally served with rustic bread.

This quick and easy soup contains simple ingredients: vegetables, such as tomatoes, potatoes, peppers and onions, which are added some that make this dish special: shrimp, clams, and bacon. Warm and aromatic, this healthy and nutritious soup is ready in about half an hour.

All types of seafood are good protein sources but don’t contain as much fat as meat. They bring you extra vitamins, essential minerals, proteins, and omega-3 fatty acids. Regular consumption of apples reduces your risk of depression, liver cancer, Alzheimer’s, and heart disease and relieves joint pain.

Ingredients enough for six servings

  • 1 kg clams
  • 300 g of shrimp
  • 200 g of bacon
  • 3 liters of water
  • 2 onions
  • 3 carrots
  • 1 pepper
  • 5 potatoes
  • 400 g pureed tomatoes
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 thyme sprig
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Method of preparation

  1. Wash the clams in several waters, then boil them in 1.5 l of water. Cover and let it boil for about 20 minutes, then drain the resulting soup through cheesecloth and keep it. Throw away the clams that haven’t opened.
  2. Heat the oil in a pot and fry the chopped bacon until it becomes crispy. You remove it and put it on paper towels to absorb the excess fat.
  3. In the remaining fat, saute the chopped onions, carrots and pepper until soft, then add the peeled and diced potatoes and the tomatoes, pour the water, add the bay leaf thyme and let it boil for a quarter of an hour.
  4. Add the cleaned shrimp, the clam soup, and the clams, season with salt and pepper to taste, and let it boil for another ten minutes. Before serving, add the bacon.
