Tips From a Makeup Artists To Do a Latte Makeup

Latte makeup

Latte makeup, which has become mega-popular on social networks this summer, is also perfect for September days. A universal option in brown-bronze shades will be appropriate in the office and at a party.

Social networks, along with fashion shows, serve as trendsetters for various trends in both fashion and beauty. Today, the #lattemakeup hashtag on TikTok has nearly 200 million views and counting. The clean skin aesthetic (where faces were painted as if they were wearing no makeup) and Barbicore look (with an explosion of pink lipsticks and perfect flowing waves) were replaced by latte makeup.

What is latte makeup?

Latte makeup is the ideal base for practical, romantic, and evening looks. The peculiarity of this makeup is various shades of coffee and caramel, which combine beautifully on tanned skin with a bronze or golden tint. The latte makeup look uses monochromatic and complementary brown tones to create a glow-from-within coppery glow.

In fact, this makeup is nothing new. The brown-bronze palette was popular in the 2010s when many could not take their brushes off the Tarte Tartelette Toasted Eye Palette and MAC’s Saddle eyeshadow with their warm tones and created a bronze goddess look. Hollywood stars did not ignore this makeup; for example, Jennifer Lopez and BeyoncĂ© used it for red carpets and performances in the 2000s.

A trend called “latte makeup” has become popular on TikTok thanks to influencer Rachel Rigler. “It’s warm, bronze, milky, and light,” Rigler said in her video, which went viral. In her tutorial, she referenced looks created by Australian makeup artist Taniel Jai, who called the look a “summery, smoky, slightly icy look.” All thanks to the addition of shimmering shimmer to the prominent face and body points.

Who is it suitable for?

Latte makeup is an alternative to nude, so it suits any skin and eye tone. Blue, green, and gray eyes are perfect for warmer shades of eyeshadow to highlight the pigment of the iris. You can use any shade with brown eyes.

The main thing is to choose the right textures and shades. “For oily skin, use predominantly dry compact surfaces with a matte or satin finish. You prefer creamy consistencies with a soft glow if your skin is dry. Cool coffee shades will look advantageous on fair skin, while for tanned skin, it is better to use warm caramel or terracotta tones.

For both young and mature skin, when choosing products to create latte makeup, you need to rely on your skin undertone and your personal preferences in shades of brown. Light cream textures are perfect for young skin; you can also safely experiment with shimmer. When creating latte makeup on aging skin, please do not get carried away with bronzing; it is better to use a refreshing blush in coffee tones and work mainly with the upper eyelid when making eye makeup.

Latte makeup is based on tanned, fresh skin, so it was popular in the summer and will not lose its position in early autumn. For those who do not have a tan and do not expect it, bronzing products will help. They must be applied carefully and blended to give the skin a golden glow.

When creating latte makeup, the focus is on highlighting the natural highlights and contours of the face using brown and bronze tones. It is essential to accentuate the eyes with creamy silhouettes and shimmering coffee-colored textures, giving the rest of the face a subtle glow.

How to do

The secret lies in bronzers and brown shades with caramel, yellow, and olive undertones. Warm orange and red undertones should be avoided, often found in typical bronze and brown shades.

To create the effect of satiny skin with a golden tan, I recommend choosing a foundation slightly darker than your skin tone. To ensure it blends easily and goes smoothly, add a couple of drops of primer with a radiant effect and use a flat synthetic brush or a damp sponge.

They make the application softer and make it possible to carefully work out all the nuances of the relief, be it pores or small wrinkles.

Both matte and shimmering textures are suitable as bronzing powder – the choice depends on the intended result and the skin’s condition. For age-related makeup, in principle, I rarely choose matte products (only if the situation requires it) since, due to their properties, they can emphasize age. During the day, they do not feel very comfortable. Shining and shimmering textures, on the contrary, apply very thinly and look natural. Those with smooth and well-hydrated skin can afford absolutely any texture.

The saturation of a bronzer is traditionally determined by the initial skin tone. Still, there is one caveat: the larger the brush, the thinner the product will apply. So if you have fair skin, are afraid of going overboard with the tan color, or don’t want to put a stain on, pay attention to the large Clarins brush. Its rounded shape will help you softly and, at the same time, expressively work out your cheekbones and tone your face absolutely evenly.

Blush is often ignored in latte makeup. It’s better to take a caramel-peach blush and lightly brush it over the apples of the cheeks towards the temples, and also apply the remaining product on the brush to the areas where the bronzer was used.

Latte-style eye makeup ranges across the spectrum of beige tones. Here, you can play with intensity and saturation depending on the shade of your eyes and the intended brightness of your makeup. To create a subtle result, I recommend choosing light and medium shades of eyeshadow, from sand to coffee with milk. It is better to work out the eye contour with a soft brown pencil and add a warm undertone to the eyebrows – even if the hairs are ashy. If you want a contrasting effect for light eyes or add expressiveness to dark ones, feel free to outline your eyes with a pencil in the shade of solid coffee and for your eyelids.

To add shine to your eyes, you can take metallic pigment from Krygina cosmetics. We apply it with our fingers to the moving eyelid and the inner corner of the eye. We add it to the cheekbones and collarbones in order to emphasize the tan.
