Survival Tips for Long-Haul Flights

Surviving on long airline flights involves much more than just how you pass the time in the air. Not many people can say they enjoy long-haul flights when traveling to their dream destinations, especially those who aren’t seated in business or first class. All those hours on a plane might not sound like a fun activity, but they can be much more tolerable with a bit of preparation and a few comforts from home.

When planning a long trip, it’s best to use airline miles if you have them or pay the extra money for a business or first-class ticket. Being in a more comfortable seat will ensure you can sleep better, which is the number one thing people enjoy doing when on a long trip. This isn’t as necessary on short flights, such as going to Sin City to check out the latest vegas nfl odds, but it can make a huge difference if you are on a flight for most of the day you’re traveling. However, there are some tips to help make that long flight more bearable.

Book Ahead To Get The Best Seats

Probably the most essential of these tips is to book your flight ahead, if possible, to get the best seat. For example, if flying in economy class, try to choose seats in the exit rows if you need more legroom. It’s also good to choose a seat away from the front rows, as many international flights have special provisions that reserve the front rows for travelers with infants. Also, try to get an aisle seat for more ease in moving around the plane.

Travelers may not be able to choose seats on a flight until a few days before the departure date on some international airlines.

Dress Comfortably

Fashion shouldn’t be a priority when traveling on a long-haul flight. Staying comfortable is an essential part of getting through a long flight.

It’s recommended to wear something loose-fitting and comfortable enough to sleep in. Also, try to dress in light layers to try and stay cool or warm enough during the entire trip.

Also, wear shoes that can be worn comfortably throughout the flight, and make sure to wear socks if you plan on removing them. Wearing compression socks is a good idea for those with blood circulation problems as they are very helpful in preventing thrombosis.

Drink Plenty of Water

On long-haul flights, travelers should always drink plenty of water as a general rule. Try to avoid drinking caffeine on the day you travel, as this can make it more challenging to stay hydrated. It can also keep you from getting enough sleep on your flight.

If you are a regular coffee or tea drinker and need to avoid caffeine withdrawal, limit your intake to one cup. Also, drinking more water will make you feel better overall. The air in an airplane cabin can be very low in humidity, which requires everyone to drink enough water

Try To Get Some Sleep

Sleep is vital on long flights and will help you be well-rested when you arrive at your destination. Bringing a neck pillow and eye mask will make it easier to get some sleep, and noise-canceling headphones will make it much quieter.

It can otherwise be difficult without these accessories, especially when children are crying and the conversations around you are distracting. It will also help the flight go by faster if you get at least a couple of hours of sleep, which is an added bonus, like those found at BetUS.

Long international flights can be tiresome and sometimes unexciting. However, these tips can make your next long-haul flight much more bearable. Even though it may not seem like it, the flight will end and be worth all the trouble once you’ve reached your dream destination.
