Lip Tint is a richly pigmented water-based product. It is absorbed into the lips and in the classic version does not leave any texture. The pigment in such products is very rich, but on the lips, it always looks natural due to the lack of density.
The key properties of the lip tint are high durability and multifunctionality. The main task is to reduce the time for touching up your lips during the day due to its durability. The paint stays on your lips despite food, drinks, and even kisses. It is convenient to use the tint when you go to an event where you will not need to touch up your lips often.
Thanks to its multifunctionality, the tint can easily replace several products at once: if you don’t want to take a lot of cosmetics on a trip, the tint can serve as both blush and eyeshadow. The product can be used in any makeup – both every day and evening.
The color of the cheeks and eyes will last a long time. In addition, this way you can create a stylish mono-makeup. But you need to do it carefully: the tint may not blend well and quickly harden into spots.
Unlike matte lipstick, tint is usually not felt on the lips at all, leaving only pigment, while matte lipstick can dry out and tighten lips. If compared with moisturizing glossy lipstick, the key difference and advantage of tint is durability.
The advantages of the tint are its economy and durability: the consumption is small because the product is durable and you do not need to touch up your lips often, and you can layer it and get a brighter shade that will last a very long time. But there are also disadvantages: the tint is strongly absorbed into makeup brushes – if the bristles were light, the brush may not wash off.
Liquid
The most common type with a light watery texture – it is quickly absorbed and leaves a long-lasting pigment on the lips. Suitable for creating both a light and a more saturated shade, depending on the number of layers applied.
Gel
Has a thicker, gel-like consistency. Easily spreads over the lips, providing an even coating. Usually gives a brighter and more saturated color than a liquid tint.
Cream
A product with a creamy texture that is easy to apply and blend. It can be used not only for lips but also for cheeks as blush or on eyes as shadows. Provides denser coverage than liquid or gel tints.
Balm
Combo of tint and caring lip balm. Gives a light shade and simultaneously moisturizes and nourishes the skin. Ideal for daily use and those with dry lips.
Film
A liquid tint that dries after application and forms a thin film on the lips. After removing the film, a long-lasting and bright pigment remains on the lips. Provides a very long-lasting result, but may dry out the lips a little.
By texture, tints can be water-based or creamy. Both have a matte finish. Water-based tint hardens very quickly, it is convenient to apply it with the applicator from the package. Creamy tint can be used not only on the lips but also on the cheeks, and eyelid folds, to get a monochrome makeup with one product. You can apply it to the face with a synthetic brush, and to the lips – with a fingertip.
When choosing a tint, first of all, you should pay attention to the texture. The thicker it is, the denser the color will be and the easier it will be to shade, if necessary. There is one rule here: the shade on the lips should match the shade of the blush. Accordingly, choose the shade of the tint so that it harmonizes with the overall picture of the makeup. Everything else is banal advice that drives you into a framework, but makeup is about creativity. The color of the tint can be completely different depending on your mood, image, or event.
As for the choice of shade, if you belong to a warm type (tanned skin, hair shade with a warm pigment), you should give preference to a peach shade. If you represent a cold type, then choose a tint of a cold pink shade
An important step when using tints: before applying, the skin must be well moisturized, scrubbed, or masked, as the product can cause dryness.
You only need a little bit of the product – it’s very pigmented.
It is best to apply the tint with your fingertips. They warm up the product and provide a more even shading without spots and clear boundaries. The souffle texture is conveniently applied with the applicator from the package to create a contour. Girls often make mistakes when applying the tint.
Because of its weightless texture, it may seem that the product is perfectly distributed and moisturizes the skin, but this is not the case. A taboo about the tint is to apply it to dehydrated lips. The sensations will be unpleasant, and the shade will fall into the cracks and will be unevenly distributed. The second rule is not to delay the application. The more liquid the texture, the faster it will be absorbed into the lips. The color can go in spots in seconds.
If you want to apply a multifunctional creamy tint to your face, there are some tricks here too. Squeeze a small amount of tint onto your hand. Take a synthetic brush and apply the product to your cheeks, eyelid folds, and lips. Then quickly spread it with a damp sponge – it will absorb the excess and make the effect softer.
