Is it Possible to Wash Your Hair Every Day?

The frequency of washing your hair depends on the factors described above. For some people, the average interval between washing their hair is two to three days; for others (if the scalp is dry and there are no associated pollution factors), it is up to five days.

You can wash your hair every day for those who:

  1. Oily scalp, that is, the hair gets dirty due to natural causes of active secretion of oil by the sebaceous glands.
  2. Thin hair: They get dirty faster. Those with thin hair have more sebaceous glands.
  3. Seborrhea, dermatitis: In this case, washing your hair daily is possible and necessary to remove impurities. In this case, using medicated shampoos and masks selected by a dermatologist is better.
  4. Heavy sweating: For example, even if a person has normal skin type, he will still have to wash his hair after daily workouts in the gym.

In any case, you need to focus on the condition of the hair and scalp in a particular case. It would be a good idea to consult a dermatologist, trichologist, and beauty salon specialist.

When is it harmful to wash your hair every day?

The answer to the question of whether to wash or not to wash is individual. Expert’s believes that you should wash your hair when necessary. Suppose the skin is prone to dryness, and the hair is dull and split. Daily washing will only aggravate this situation: Even if the oil content is increased, it is better to use moisturizing shampoos, without sulfates, with mild surfactants (surfactants). Using shampoos with aggressive surfactants, which completely destroy the hydrolipid mantle, contributes to the aggravation of oily scalp.

What to do if your hair gets dirty quickly?

Not washing your hair at night: Any friction, including with a pillow, increases the secretion of sebum, so in the morning, the coat will be less fresh. And never apply conditioner or hair mask to your roots. These products are designed specifically for length. Thirdly, face cream can also stain hair when it comes into contact with the skin, so keep hair away from your face while applying skincare products, and at night, make a loose braid or bun.

As for preventive measures, an expert advises choosing a milder shampoo but lathering the scalp twice: This way, you will cleanse the roots well, but do not dry them out. Remember that the more often you wash your hair, the faster it becomes oily, so sometimes it’s worth holding out to recalibrate your skin, consciously extending the time until the next hair wash. If your hair is long, on the second, third and fourth days, you can make buns, braid hair and wear headbands – they will hide the oiliness of the roots. Dry shampoo is an excellent addition: it can be applied at night and in the morning. If you dry your hair with a hairdryer after using it, you’ll get incredible volume at the roots.

To wash your hair less often, try:

  • Choose suitable cleaning and care products without aggressive components. You may need to consult a trichologist and dermatologist.
  • Wash your hair with warm, not hot water: high temperature increases blood flow to the skin, which increases sebum production.
  • Touch your hair less with your hands.
  • Wash hats, bed linen and towels, and clean combs on time.
  • Use less styling products.
  • Eat well and drink clean water to normalize metabolic processes.
  • Don’t wait to wash your hair too often. To refresh your hair, use dry shampoo.
