How to Get Rid of Stress and Improve Well-being

Stress, anxiety, and negative states are based on a common fact: the increase in the level of cortisol. There is a simple, fast and effective method by which you can lower cortisol.

Gradually, we begin to accept the presence of stress in our daily routine with a sense of resignation, as if there is nothing we can do to make it go away. The negative effects become visible in the long term if this situation continues over time. Elevated levels of cortisol, known as the stress hormone, can have physical effects such as headaches, insomnia, and not just stress. You only need eight seconds to improve your well-being.

What is the eight-second rule?

Keeping stress at bay makes us enjoy everyday life more and allows us to live longer and better. There are indeed many situations that can lead to stress, but we must learn to manage them and find ways to control them. One such trick is the eight-second rule, which is a short-term solution. You can put it into practice wherever you are. It is simply based on giving a long hug. This will lead to the stimulation of the secretion of a hormone that makes you feel good.

The hormone that gives this state is oxytocin, which is on the opposite plane of cortisol. It is responsible for reducing its level, for the appearance of well-being and calmness in a stressful situation. You can increase its level naturally through hugs, physical exercises, and conversations with a loved one who looks you in the eye and shows you that he understands you.

The eight-second rule will help you to strengthen further the relationships you already have with friends, partners, family, and work colleagues. The key point is physical contact, which can have a positive impact in a short time.

How you can get rid of stress in other ways

There are other methods by which you can regulate the cortisol level, such as sports or going to the beach. It’s important to have a healthy routine that doesn’t involve cutting back on rest or poor nutrition.

Food also plays a role in reducing cortisol levels. The main vitamins and minerals that have this effect are C, B complex and magnesium. You get these from foods like citrus fruits, nuts, fish, and green leafy vegetables. Avoid excessive coffee and sugar, and hydrate well every day.
