How to Avoid Common Blunders Caused in the Kitchen?

In this article, I have collected a series of mistakes that many people make in the kitchen. If you have these habits, too, don’t worry! They can be easily corrected.

Many people make the first mistake of not preparing their ingredients before cooking. This technique helps you organize yourself efficiently and avoid forgetting to add vegetables or fruit to your culinary preparations. Also, remember that dairy and meat must be at room temperature before coming into contact with high heat! In the case of meat, the sudden change in temperature affects the quality of the proteins and inhibits even cooking.

Storing tomatoes in the refrigerator

Another common mistake is storing tomatoes in the refrigerator. As intuitive as it may be to store them this way, the low temperature actually affects their texture, and the food becomes soft. It is best to put them in the pantry or a special drawer for vegetables.

Washing berries before storage

Tomatoes are not the only foods you need to watch out for! If you like berries, such as strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, or blackberries, don’t wash them immediately when you get home! Of course, these foods require thorough washing before consumption, but if you want to store them after washing, know that the fruit will spoil faster.

Adding oil to pasta water

When preparing pasta, there is a myth that adding a little oil to the water you boil will stop sticking. In fact, this trick could be more helpful. The only ingredient added to the pasta water is salt, which improves the taste and texture.

Purchase of ground pepper

Ground pepper that has been in the drawer for a long time loses its flavour and properties. Instead, peppercorns ground in a grinder have a more intense taste, and they are even fresher and healthier

Get rid of unpleasant smells in your kitchen.

One of the biggest disadvantages of cooking at home is the appearance of unpleasant odours that can linger in the kitchen and throughout the house.

  1. Use a quality hood
  2. Replace frying on the stove with other more efficient and healthy cooking methods.
  3. Regular cleaning of central surfaces
  4. Use natural ingredients to neutralize odours

Dedicating time to its care is important for a welcoming and odour-free kitchen. Applying these methods allows you to enjoy cooking without the discomfort associated with lingering smells.
