How Long Should Brush Teeth? Know Teeth Brushing Mistakes

Wondering how many minutes should be good to brush your teeth? More time does not mean that it is better for the teeth. Look what brushing mistakes you can make!

Some brushing habits can affect tooth enamel or gums. Even if you brush your teeth twice a day, you may be making some of these mistakes without realizing it. There is a perfect balance when it comes to how much time you should spend brushing. You may be brushing your teeth for too long. Two minutes is ideal and divided into 30 seconds on each quarter of the mouth with an electric or manual toothbrush.

Brushing with baking soda should be done less often

One of the most popular teeth-whitening tricks at home is brushing with baking soda. This is slightly abrasive, so it helps remove stains. For this reason, it is also a very popular household cleaner. However, when it comes to teeth, frequent use can cause more problems than benefits. Doctors warn of the unwanted effects that can occur with the excessive use of sodium bicarbonate. Like any abrasive, it should be used less often, just like a skin scrub. Otherwise, you can damage the gums and tooth enamel.

Avoid brushing your teeth vigorously

The pressure you put on your teeth while brushing must be taken into account in order not to create dental problems. When you brush for two minutes, as recommended if you tend to press or brush vigorously, the tooth enamel can be damaged. Many people make the mistake of thinking that the harder they brush their teeth, the better they will clean them. However, too much pressure on the toothbrush while brushing can damage tooth enamel and also cause receding gums.

Clean the teeth twice a day, without exception

Research suggests that many of us don’t wash as often as we should. Several studies contained in a material of the Olt Public Health Directorate, cited by Adevarul, showed that 47% brush their teeth only in the morning and 41% only before going to bed. Certainly, the lack of a second brushing will affect the teeth with time if it becomes a habit. Plaque that builds up increases the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. It is essential to establish a brushing routine in the morning and before bed to ensure that your teeth and gums remain healthy.
