Foods that Cause Bad Breath – Get Rid of Bad Breath

The removal of the protective mask has given rise to a new concern – breathing quality. As people begin to interact nearby, paying close attention to your oral health is important. 

No one wants to face bad breath. So here are the foods that can cause this problem!

Not only garlic and onions are foods that cause bad breath. There are many more on the list that you wouldn’t even think of. Some of them are extremely healthy, but they come with this disadvantage.

On the other hand, some foods fight bad breath, known in medical terms as ‘Halitosis .’Are you ready to discover them?

These Foods Cause Bad Breath

Canned Fish: Tuna, sardines, anchovies, or other canned fish can cause halitosis. Once preserved, the fish begins to oxidize, which leads to a strong odor even when ingested.

Cheese: When bacteria break down lactose, lipids, and proteins in cheese, excess hydrogen sulfide is created, a substance responsible for bad breath.

Coffee: Smells good, but only when you drink it. After consumption, the coffee dries the mouth and allows the bacteria to thrive.

Horseradish contains a compound (allyl isothiocyanate) responsible for its extremely strong odor, including bad breath.

Tomato juice is delicious and healthy, but it forms an acidic environment in the mouth, which causes bad breath.

Breathtaking Foods

On the other hand, there are foods that you can eat to get rid of bad breath. These are:

1. Apples remove plaque, which helps to freshen the breath. In addition, apple encourages the production of saliva, which removes bacteria that cause unpleasant odors.

2. Cinnamon contains essential oil with antimicrobial and antiseptic properties, which gives it a pleasant scent that is strong enough to mask lingering odors.

Tip: If you experience shortness of breath, avoid commercial candy! Just chew a small cinnamon stick.

3. Vegetables such as carrots, celery, and cucumbers encourage saliva production and help freshen the breath.
