We all eat every day, and sometimes it becomes a hassle to get our next meal and have it healthy too. Is it OK to eat the same thing all the time?

You may not have time to diversify your menu, or you lack the imagination to combine different foods. You can also like your favorite dish so much that you don’t want to replace it with anything else. And then you end up ordering or cooking the same thing. The problem is that your gut health is vital, and simply not eating various foods can seriously damage it.

The health of our gut affects the functioning of our entire digestive tract, experts tell us. And 70% of our immune system is in our digestive tract. In other words, if the gut is not in the best possible condition, it can even affect our mental health.

Studies have shown us that by taking care of the health of our intestines – through a balanced diet – we are taking care of our mental state. In other words, what we eat significantly impacts our health! So, if you don’t feel well and don’t know why, an idea would be to stop eating the same thing every day.

It depends a lot on the type of food ingested. Your body will not react the same way to salads as to fast food. However, even if it is a healthy food, it is still not recommended to eat only it every day.

When we eat super-processed foods, we risk developing major health problems, such as depression, cancer, and Alzheimer’s, due to the lack of nutrients. When you have such a menu, you feel the long-term effects – like those listed above – but also the short-term ones because the impact of the processed oils, sugars, and additives in the composition of super-processed food is felt quite quickly. You experience, after eating, digestive problems, lack of energy, and cloudiness of the mind.

In the case of healthy food consumed daily, you can still affect your gastrointestinal health because you do not provide the intestine with a diversity of beneficial microbes. Specialists recommend eating prebiotics-rich foods like garlic, onions, and leeks. Foods high in fiber are spinach, broccoli, artichokes, and fennel; they are also heaven for your gut. They should not be missing from your plate, either.   

In conclusion, including your favorite dish in your daily menu is outstanding, especially if it is healthy, but it could be better. It is preferable to combine it with various other foods for a food variety that can ensure the health of your whole body.
